Shaving Cream Mis-hap

Okay so I have the funnest story but i didn't get any pictures of it...Sadly! So this morning I went in the kitchen to make Bruce's lunch just like any other day and all of a sudden i hear him call my name so I got in our room to see whats going on and realize he is in the bathroom. So I walk in the bathroom and there is shaving cream EVERYWHERE! On the mirror, on him, in his hair, on his back, on his face, on the counter, on the floor, on our towels...I mean everywhere. and I just started laughing! So I go Bruce what happened? and he goes well it wouldn't come out so i just pressed really hard and it exploded! I was laughing so hard. The only regret I have is not being able to witness the whole thing! I just love my husband to pieces...He makes me laugh more times than I can count

Our Apartment

Okay so here is our apartment....well our room! I'm not gonna put pictures of the rest of the apartment on here cause the boys keep it way too messy! One of the boys actually lives in the family room so now you can see why Bruce and I just stay in our room. But when you look at these pictures keep in mind i couldn't bring any decorations, bedspread, etc. out here so its very plain and not decorated! and i put the picture of our closet on because I think its funny! haha it is our closet/pantry/storage room! It is really insane. But its fun and we love it! Oh! and your probably wondering what that yellow poster is...well we made Bruce a motivational poster and stuck it on our wall... Thats the best decorating I got!

Summer in Boston 2007

Well a month after we got married we decided to take an adventure and move to Boston, Massachusetts so Bruce could sell Pest Control. We live in a little town called Marlborough. Massachusetts is crazy and totally different then Arizona, it is SO green here!!! But it has been so good for us to get away from everything and everyone and just depend on each other. We are truly best friends and our relationship is better than it has ever been. Bruce is such a hard worker and I am so proud of him. He walks all day in the humidity and heat going door to door selling pest control. You might think this is easy, but in Massachusetts no road is straight...every road has hills to climb. He goes out at 10:30 in the morning and does not get back until 10:00-11:00 at night. He comes home so tired but never complains! I was working for a guy helping him and being an assistant at his toy company. I would enter names in the database, enter orders, box toys to be shipped, mail invoices, etc. Luckily Bruce recently allowed me to quit my job and now I hang out at the apartment with Auggie (our dog), scrapbook, and hang out with the other wives. We are living in our second apartment since we have been out here and it's a two bedroom apartment we share with three other boys so its really hard. We have plenty of interesting stories to tell from those boys! But we get the master bedroom all to ourselves so its nice! We are so happy and enjoying life and count our blessing everyday for everything that has been done for us. Bruce is such an amazing husband! We love our life and can't wait for the next adventure to come our way. We have recently received callings in our ward as well. Bruce is the young single adult Sunday school teacher and I am the Relief Society teacher! It has been an awesome experience with our callings so far! We will return home the end of September or beginning of October and can't wait to see all our friends and family again! It has been hard being away, but this has been such an amazing experience for us and we wouldn't trade it for anything!

The Wedding

We got married at 9:45am on Wednesday March 8, 2007! That was the best day of my life! We had the most amazing and spiritual experience in the sealing room and neither one of us will ever forget it. We walked out of the Mesa, Arizona Temple at 10:45 as Mr. and Mrs. Brooks! It was a close one though....I got to the Temple first and got in my temple bag to hand them my Temple Recommend. I hand them the recommend case but there was no recommend in the case!!! So while I was freaking out Bruce walks in and hands them his Recommend and it doesn't have the Stake Presidents signature on it! We both grabbed the wrong recommends!!! So they took our names and went in the back to call our Bishops but luckily i had just gotten my endowment the week earlier so they had our Living Ordinance Recommend on file so we got it. Wow, can we just say that was a close call! After our Sealing we took a bunch of pictures with family and then went to Matta's Mexican Restaurant for our Luncheon. It was a really nice Luncheon! After the Luncheon we split ways...Bruce went to go get the key for our hotel and I had to get my hair done for the Reception. We met back at Vila Sienna (where our reception was) and took a bunch of pictures. The Reception started at 7:00pm. The Reception was beyond my dreams...it was gorgeous! We stood in the line from 7:00-8:00pm with our parents. We danced to I Cross My Heart by George Strait for our First dance, I danced with my dad to Little Girl by Tim McGraw and Bruce danced with him mom to Because You Loved me by Celine Dion, we Smashed cake in each others face, and did the bouquet and guarder toss! We had the most amazing food...there was turkey and sirloin steak kabobs, shrimp, a smoothie bar, fruit kabobs, cake, and all different kinds of salad. Our reception was so much fun and it went by so fast...We were suppose to leave and we felt like it just started! Iwent to go Change out of my wedding dress and then we walked out to their car. Our car was crazy! Someone had taken Saran Wrap and wrapped our whole car up, then once we finally got in the car it was filled to the top with balloons! We drove to our beautiful hotel called The Westin Kierland Villas and had a relaxing night... It was an amazing day!

The Engagement

Bruce proposed to me on Sunday August 20, 2006 and it was on the top 3 best days of my life! After being together for so long I wasn't sure if it would ever happen and he sure suprised me! I knew he was going to propose sometime but never would have guessed it would be on a Sunday...so I went to church that Sunday thinking it would be any other Sunday. After church Bruce called and asked me if I could go with him and his family to the new church video at the temple. I agreed and was on my way to his house. When I got there Bruce was the only one home and said everyone else was at the Temple and we had to hurry and meet them there. We got in the truck and drove to the Temple and parked on the west side. Right when we pulled up Bruce said he had to call his dad to see where they were and when Bruce got off the phone with his dad he said they were walking around the Temple waiting for the movie to start. So we start walking to the east side of the Temple where they do Baptisms for the Dead. Right when we turned the corner both sets of parents were standing there and my mom was holding a box. The first thing I could think to say is, "Why are my parents here and why does your dad have a camera around his neck?" I was SO confused! As we approached our parents my mom put this big beautiful box in my hands and said Bruce has something to give you so he takes me over to this bench and makes me sit down. I was curious what was in the box and knew a ring didnt fit in that size box so I started shaking the box! Bruce quickly said, "Sweety I don't think you should shake that box!" So I went to open the box and the cutest little Yorkie-Poo puppy jumped out at me and freaked me out! It scared me so bad I almost dropped the box! I was so overwhelmed with the cute little puppy that I didn't even realize the ring that was around its neck. Bruce points out the ring and I knew what was coming next. Bruce got down on one knee andsaid "Chanteal will you marry me? Please say yes!" Of course I said yes! while both sets of parents were snapping pictures of the whole thing! Later Bruce explained to me that his dad proposed to his mom at that same bench!

How we met

Once Upon a time in a far away land there was a boy named Bruce Brooks and a girl named Chanteal Riggs. He had just served his mission in Buenos Aries, Argentina while she was busy with Beauty School. One fate filled night he was hanging out with his friend JJ Holt and I was hanging out with my friend Jen Shear. JJ knew Jen and I, so he called Jen up to meet up and hang out. Once we met we hit it off. Bruce, Chanteal, JJ and Jen hung out all night. As time progressed Jen met their friend Brian Miner and started dating him so we were always the tag-alongs. After hanging out for a few weeks Bruce told me in a text message that he likes me. I was the happiest girl in the world!  I had grown very fond of him myself. On February 27, 2005 we went on our first date and really liked each other, so we went on our fifth date and still really liked each other and we soon became inseperable. We began to date exclusivly for 2 amazing years.
