Visitors

My parents are here visiting us for 10 days and it has been fun because I get to go sight see! They got here on Thursday afternoon and we drove over to South Padre Island and looked around and went into a few shops, then we ate at an AMAZING Seafood place called Snoopy's. Then Friday we drove EVERYWHERE! We drove to Mustang Island, Padre Island, and to be honest we kinda got lost but it was totally fun! We even went on a ferry! And don't forget my dad wanted to stop at EVERY little surf or souvenir shop and they all had the same thing. We stopped at the beach, and got to see one of Christopher Columbus boats "Nina." Then yesterday we went to the mall and a couple shops then we came home and waited for Bruce to get off work so we could go out to dinner.

Craft Time!

Before we came out here I decided to bring my sewing machine and teach myself how to sew. A week before we came out here I threw Katrina a baby shower and made her some burp rags. Those were pretty easy so I figured sewing couldn't be that hard. I forgot to take pictures of the ones I made Katrina, but they turned out so cute. I ended up making some for Christanie while we have been out here since she is expecting a baby boy in a couple weeks. Here they are...

Since the burp rags were so easy I decided I wanted to make a rag quilt for Bruce and I. Right before we came out here (literally the day before) I ran to Joann's and got some fabric and all the supplies I would need. What I didn't realize is that burp rags don't take much skill and really aren't that hard. I had to cut 64-9'' squares, 248-5'' squares of fabric, then 32-8'' squares, and 124-4'' squares of batting. Then I had to sew all the squares together and fray all the edges...It turned out SO cute!!!

Texas is doing a Number on the Brooks Family...

First off like a week ago I got a call from Bruce like 45 minutes after he left for work telling me he forgot his wallet at the gas station(keep in mind Bruce has never done this before and he is always really good about making sure he has his wallet). Being the person I am I totally freaked out and started getting worked up that someone was going to steal my husbands identity (I'm lame I know). Well Bruce went back to the gas station to get his wallet and lucky us his wallet was gone. So he then had to come home and cancel both of his debit cards, & our credit card. He also had to order a new license, call game and fish and get a new hunting license (can't forget the precious hunting license) and go to the bishop to get a new recommend. Luckily no one had tried to use any of our cards so we lucked out there....but still, the poor guy is walletless now. This was only the beginning of our Texas luck...

Well this morning like any other morning here Bruce and I got up and ran some errands. As we were coming home right before you get to our apartments they are doing road work. Well we were driving along minding our own business when all of a sudden I see this huge metal sign falling (on my side of the car) and I started yelling Bruce be careful! and BAM the sign hit our car! By this time I am freaking out because I look out the window and or side mirror is gone. So we pulled over and call the cops and all that. Our car sure got beat up by that dang sign. The front end has some damage, we are obviously missing our side mirror, there is a huge dent and lots of scratches on the passenger door, the bottom corner of our windshield got cracked, the front side panel got scratched, and there is a huge scratch in between the door and the windshield! So the guy told us to go around and get some appraisals and fax them all over to him and they'll fix our car. Well we got 2 appraisals and they both came back for like $2,100 and we called the guy to let him know and to also let him know we will need a rental car because they are going to have our car in the shop for 3-4 days and the guy freaked out and got all mad...First, he got mad because we wouldn't go to the body shop they wanted us to go to...but its Texas state law that we can go to whoever we want. Second he got mad because both of our appraisals came back for $2,100. and Third he got because we are going to need a rental car. Lucky him!!! So now we are waiting to hear back. Isn't that just a lovely day for the Brooks family.

Colton...Graduated...WHAT???

My baby brother is graduated, and to be honest I don't know how I feel about it... It is just so crazy! Colton and I have always been really close and I cherish all our crazy memories. We could sit for hours and talk about all the weird things we did as kids. He was my little partner in crime and I love him to death! From tee-peeing our own house in the middle of the day, playing in the rain (the picture above) hide and go seek, making him eat a dog biscuit that I covered in powdered sugar, to playing life guard in the pool with a milk carton! We always had so much fun...When I realized I was going to miss Colton's graduation because we had to come out to Texas I started crying (I'm a baby I know) But that was the hardest thing. Colton has done so many wonderful things, and I am so proud to say he is my brother! He has a lot more school ahead of him (he wants to be an anesthesiologist) so when I called him all upset because I was going to miss his graduation he was like "ummm Chaney, High school graduation doesn't even matter, it's college that counts!" Haha Colton is always so positive about everything and is always trying to make everyone feel better. He is an amazing young man! Colty, I am so proud of you and for all your accomplishments! Next is your mission, and then the rest of your life and I know you will be just as amazing in everything else you do! I love you Noogs!

The Ocean!

Well Bruce and I decided to go on a Sunday drive yesterday and he surprised me and took me to the nice part of Corpus Christi!!! He's been holding out on me! Before we came out here everyone told me oh I love Corpus, it is so pretty, etc... Well after talking with Christinie about this subject we both decided all those people are crazy! It's not that its ugly here but it is not what we expected at all! We drove right up the street and BAM there was the beach and all these really nice houses right on the water and I really felt like I was in California for a second there! This wasn't a beach we would go to, but still it had water!!! (even though the water is an ugly color!) I hear the good beaches are on Padre Island which is like 20 minutes away so until I get to explore that part of Corpus Christi, this was pretty exciting! It was weird though it wasn't a sandy beach it was just these cement steps that dropped into the ocean...Crazy I know! Bruce informed me that this would be the perfect fishing spot, so I am sure I will be seeing these steps sometime soon...

The Host

Well the other day Christinie Holt (JJ's wife) and I were sitting here talking and somehow the Twilight books came up and how much we both loved them. Then we got the crazy idea to go get Stephanie Meyer's new book The Host... and I just finished it. The first half was okay, but the second half was good! I have to admit, I still LOVE the twilight books but this is a good change! Stephanie Meyers is such an amazing author and she knows how to make you feel like you are right there in the book! I can't wait for the next book in the Twilight series to come out this August!!!

My new purse!!! (here you go Mom!)

So I bought a new Kathy Van Zeeland purse today (i absolutely LOVE her purses!) and it is amazing. It is kinda funny because all growing up my mom would never buy a purse unless it had a center divider and I though it was so weird...Well now I can't buy a purse without dividers, and this one has 5! I don't know about you, but I hate digging through my purse for 5 minutes while my cell phone is ringing and then once I finally find my phone I have missed the call, or standing outside my car forever looking for my keys. I am so excited to be so organized with my purse! Well the reason why I am posting this is because I am trying to convince my mom she needs to get this purse. So here are some pictures mom... It is like a cream with gold lining and then the inside is pink!

Sunday BBQ

This afternoon our office decided to have a BBQ. We ended up having it a little earlier becuase the guys have a priesthood meeting this evening. It was so nice outside today. Well I guess it has been nice out the past couple days. It has been really sunny, not humid (suprisingly), and windy! I love it! Bruce is working really hard and is still doing good with his sales. He's making me really proud!

Code Man & Gun Bun!!!

Okay so I have the 2 cutest nephews in the world and I miss them to death!!! (I know I have only been gone for a week) but i love them so much! Every summer I have the hardest time leaving them and I can't wait for the summer to end so I can see them again.

Dakota has got to be the smartest 4 year old I know. The kid can read chapter books for crying out loud! He has the sweetest heart and has always been my baby. I have had such a close bond with Dakota ever since he was a baby and I cherish him so much. Right as I was leaving to come to Texas he was near tears and said, "Chaney, I used my own money and I bought envelopes, and paper, and pens just so I can send you letters in the mail!" and then after they left all that night Katrina told me he kept saying, "Mommy, can I send Chaney a letter to Texas yet! I love you so much Code, and Miss you even more!

Gunnar is the funniest little boy I have ever met! He is never afraid to try anything and is always up for an adventure. He loves to give lots of kisses and has the cutest little voice. It just melts my heart when he says, "Cha-knee, I Wove You Moest!" (Chaney I love you mostest) Gun Bun and I have become so close over the past year and he is the funnest little boy to play with. I love you so much Gunnar Bunnar!!!

Happy Mothers Day

Well since I haven't had the Internet I kinda need to catch up on my post....

We want to let everyone know that we have the 2 BEST Mom's in the whole world!

My mom is my best friend. She has gone through all my trails with me and has been right there by my side through it all whether I needed someone to laugh with or cry to. I can honestly say that she is the best mom in the world. I feels so blessed to have her in my life and to know that she is part of my eternal family. Without my mom I would be lost. She is always there for anyone to give a helping hand and is just about the best Relief Society President I have ever met. She is so strong and stands up for what she believes in...We love you mom, your amazing!

My mother-in-law Racheel is just as amazing. Bruce absolutely adores her. She is always there for us and is so giving. She would sacrifice anything and do anything for her kids. Family and the gospel are her most important things. She is such and example to us and we are so grateful to have her in our lives. I have had the opportunity to become pretty close with Racheel and I cherish our friendship. Thank you so much Racheel for all you do, We love you so much!!!

Sorry we couldn't be there to celebrate Mother's Day with you but we hope you both had an awesome day, and we hope you know how much you are loved!!!

We are Here!!!

So we got here last Wednesday night and we have been trying to get adjusted to the dang humidity! Bruce is doing so good in sales.... He has sold 1 on Thursday, 1 on Friday, 1 on Saturday, and 5 yesterday!!! Well that is the days they were installed and that's what really counts. We will keep you all updated as our crazy life in Corpus Christi continues!!!

Katrina's Baby Shower

On Thursday Katrina had her baby shower!!! Kassi and I threw it for her and we had it at my moms house. It turned out to be a lot of fun... We ate, played games and got to see a bunch of really cute gifts! Justin and Katrina decided to name her Kylie Kay Riggs! I must say...Kylie got some awesome things! We are so excited for Kylie to arrive! Again, Congratulations Justin & Katrina...I know you are so excited to finally have your baby girl!
